About Rob

Rob is an experienced drummer and educator with over 15 years of teaching experience. A graduate of Trinity College of Music and Middlesex University, he studied jazz under Nikki Iles, Stuart Hall, and Martin France. As a performer, Rob has played at major festivals and venues across Europe, including Ronnie Scott’s, Union Chapel, and the Seixial Jazz Festival, and has recorded in top London studios such as Rak and Angel.

Rob’s approach to learning the drums focuses heavily on getting students to read rhythms from musical notation straight away from their first lesson. He treats reading rhythms the same as learning phonics in any language - building understanding from the ground up. The great thing about this approach is that you don’t even need a pair of sticks or a drum kit to get started. Rob also plays guitar, bass, and piano and often accompanies students in lessons to provide musical context and strengthen their overall musicianship.
